Master Hebrew and Latin Together

Join our 12-week live course, twice a week, one hour each session.

Where ancient languages come alive

Schola Hebraica was founded on a simple conviction: the languages of the ancient world still have much to teach us. Latin and Biblical Hebrew are not relics of the past, they are living keys to literature, scripture, philosophy, and history that have shaped Western civilization for millennia.

We offer small, intimate courses taught by instructors who love what they teach. At Schola Hebraica, you won't find automated lessons or pre-recorded lectures. Every session is live, every question is heard, and every student is encouraged to participate.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Level One: Gateway to Latin and Biblical Hebrew

An introductory course in two of the world's most enduring languages

This foundational course opens the door to both Latin and Biblical Hebrew, offered together in a single, cohesive program.

Format: Online, synchronous (live via video)

Level: True beginner - no prior knowledge required

Class Size: Small and intimate by design

What You'll Learn: Latin

  • The Latin alphabet, pronunciation, and basic phonology

  • Core vocabulary drawn from classical and scientific texts

  • Fundamental grammar: Noun cases (declensions), verb conjugations, and sentence structure

  • Reading simple Latin sentences and short passages

  • The relationship between Latin and modern languages, and why it still matters

What You'll Learn: Biblical Hebrew

  • The Hebrew alphabet (aleph-bet) and vowel system (nikud)

  • Right-to-left reading and script recognition

  • Essential vocabulary from the Hebrew Bible

  • Introduction to verbal roots (the shoresh system), the backbone of Hebrew grammar

  • Reading and parsing simple verses from the biblical text

By the end of Level One, students will have a working foundation in both languages - enough to begin to read introductory texts, recognize vocabulary in context, and continue confidently to the next level.

A note on our format: All classes meet live online. This means you get the flexibility of learning from home with the irreplaceable benefit of real-time instruction, discussion, and feedback. Come prepared to participate - this is a classroom, not a lecture hall.

Session times and start dates will be announced. Enrollment is kept small to ensure every student receives personal attention.
